ScoBar Entertainment presents:

The Blues Buffet with Slim Chance & the Gamblers

featuring Roger Bartlett (of The Jimmy Buffet’s Coral Reefer Band)

Slim Chance (Mario Casella) and the Gamblers

In 2008, I was offered the job of playing bass for “Bocci and the Badboys”, playing venues such as the Stone Pony and festivals and events such as “Light of Day“. Though my time with this band was short lived, it was a valuable experience.

After a short stint with Asbury classic band, “The Blackberry Blues Band”, fate itself had led me to the doorstep of “Slim Chance &The Gamblers”. One amazing coincidence after another has led me back to old friends, guitarist, Eric Greene, drummer, Steve Murphy, percussionist, Johnny G. Reo, and new friends, bass player/vocals, Jim Grant, harmonica/vocals, Sandy Mack and keyboards/vocals, Rockin’ Randy Ledet.

Our music is strongly based in Blues and R&B. Our objective is to play for the body, mind and soul in that danceability and lyrical substance are key factors. Johnny G. Reo brings Latin percussion to the table which helps to display Latin influences like Carlos Santana and Ray Baretto. Eric Greene helps to bring an ethereal element, shades of David Gilmore, into our sound. Jim, Steve, Randy and I bring the music down to Earth with a diverse sound that all audiences can enjoy, memorable, with a groove, and fans seem to love to dance to our sound…

I like to call our sound “Bluesrockafunkadelica, which is Blues, Rock, Funk and Psychedelic music combined, Together we take the gamble at laying our time and our love for music on the table. Serendipity has brought me a wonderful band, wonderful friends and now I am blessed with the gift of song.

Roger is the original guitarist of Jimmy Buffett’s<http://www.margaritaville.com/>Coral Reefer band. In the early days it was just Jimmy and Roger. Two acoustic guitars, and vocals. After a year on the road as a duo, and with the success of a hit song, Come Monday, it was clear a band was needed for the bigger venues they were playing, so Jimmy added Greg “Fingers” Taylor on harmonica and keyboard, Harry Dailey on bass and Phillip Fajardo on drums. They also needed a steady hand to guide them on the road so road manager, Mike Wheeler, came onboard. Roger is also infamous as the singer and writer of the song  Fool for a Blonde  from the classic horror movie  “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” http://www.texaschainsawmassacre.net/ and for the many incarnations of his own bands, and as lead guitarist for many artists from New York to Las Vegas.  Roger leads his newest band, Scratch ‘n’ Sniff, featuring Bart McLaughlin on drums and Jeff Van Nostrand on bass, delivering contemporary blues-based music that has elements of rock and funk with a little jazzy thing thrown in. With his distinctive voice, lead guitar work and twisted sense of humor, his music is unique. As a composer, Roger is working on a jazz-based musical called  Zinzi  http://www.zinzithemusical.com/.  It’s the story of
a girl with almost supernatural artistic talent from South Africa who
emigrates to the creative cauldron of BeBop Harlem in the post-war era in search of a family, an education and a dream.
